Pre-Stained Decks

Pre-Stained Lumber Deck Installation in New Braunfels, TX

Every board sealed on all six sides before it is ever fastened down. It is a slower way to build a deck and it is the reason ours hold up.

The four faces nobody ever seals

When a deck is stained after it's built, the finish reaches the top face and maybe part of the sides. The underside never gets touched. Neither do the cut ends, and neither do the overlaps where a board sits on a joist. Those surfaces are permanently shaded, they stay damp for a long time after rain, and they are where rot starts. Sealing before installation is the only way to reach them.

Why it matters more on a deck than a fence

A fence drains. A deck traps — water sits on the top face, runs into the fastener holes and collects on the joists underneath. The underside of a deck board is one of the wettest, darkest places on your property, and on a post-stained deck it is completely unprotected.

What it costs you

Time, mostly. Boards have to be finished and dried before the build starts, so a pre-stained deck takes longer from order to completion than one that's thrown together and sprayed. The material cost difference is modest; the durability difference is not.

Common questions

Does pre-stained lumber cost more?

The materials cost a little more and the schedule is longer because boards have to be finished and dried first. Against that, you're protecting the surfaces that actually fail. We'll quote both ways if you want to see the difference.

Can you pre-stain an existing deck?

No — by definition it only applies at build time, which is the point. For an existing deck, the right service is a full clean, brighten and stain.

Enhancing your outdoor living space with a beautiful deck is an investment in both your home's value and your personal enjoyment. Opting for a deck installation with pre stained lumber can make this process even more rewarding. This service offers an extra layer of protection against the elements, extending the life of the wood by preventing moisture, UV damage, and insect infestation from taking hold. With each plank uniformly treated before installation, you'll enjoy consistent color and quality that enhances the aesthetic appeal of your deck. Pre staining eliminates the need to stain after construction—a task often marred by uneven coverage or difficult-to-reach spots between boards. This saves you time and ensures a flawless finish right from day one. Moreover, selecting pre stained lumber means immediate satisfaction; once installed, it's ready to host gatherings or provide a peaceful retreat without delay. Choosing this service reflects foresight—prioritizing durability while encapsulating beauty right from the start.

Reviews

  • They are amazing. They stained our fence and it looks new. I needed an update on a shed and they made it beautiful. Eric, Devin, and Zack rebuilt the front of the shed and I can not say enough about how pleased we are. There work ethic is remarkable and they were quick to answer any question. They also kept an old woman from climbing in the attic but took my place. Cristopher was very patient with us and always answered our many calls. If you want the best give Cristoper a call.
